To reduce the scale and impact of dementia, we need to prioritize public education on risk factors and early symptoms, improve access to healthcare services, foster community support networks, and invest in research for better understanding.
Temitope is currently facilitating access to early diagnosis and care through telemedicine, especially in remote areas, and has established a community support network across Nigeria to foster awareness and reduce stigma.
As an Atlantic Fellow, Temitope aims to develop a tele-dementia care platform for people living with dementia and their families in Nigeria. This platform will disseminate essential information, care channels, and medication support.
By leveraging technology and building a community support network, Temitope aims to bridge gaps in access to care, promote community support, and reduce stigma around brain health issues in Nigeria and Africa.
Temitope received her medical school training from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. She received her Master's Degree in Clinical Neuroscience from King's College London and PhD in Global Health from the University of West London, United Kingdom. She is currently a Consultant Neurologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan
