To reduce the magnitude and impact of dementia, we need the implementation of preventative action for older adults who are at risk, as well as the improvement of the care conditions for dementia patients to establish multidisciplinary human capital.

Current Work

Paulina is the head of the dementia unit in a public tertiary hospital, State representative in Coahuila of Dementia Friends, and provides information sessions to make people aware of dementia in monthly talks to caregivers of relatives of patients with dementia.

Vision

Strategy

Paulina is currently the head of the dementia clinic in a public hospital of third level of care, where they protocolize all patients with cognitive impairments, provide support to the patients' families and conduct research in the dementia field.
 

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Paulina aims to continue training physicians to encourage institutional and national research on dementia, ensure access to accurate diagnosis and adequate treatment, always willing of creating global solutions for unprotected populations.

Motivation

There is an immense care deficiency for vulnerable populations, and Paulina thinks everyone must receive equal attention, regardless of nationality, age, or sector; cognitive care should be accessible to everybody.

Education & Experience

Paulina Ruiz received her medical school training from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. Paulina Ruiz received her specialist training from the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila and Mexican Institute of Social Security Paulina Ruiz received her fellow training in cognitive aging and dementia from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery "Manuel Velasco"
