To reduce the impact of dementia, we need to invest in public and political awareness and foster global collaboration to develop preventive strategies and advance effective treatments. 

Current Work

Olga is researching biomarkers for early dementia detection, focusing on the common pathways between cardiovascular risk and neurodegenerative processes. She is also examining how lifestyle factors can modify these biomarkers and influence disease progression

Strategy

Olga is dedicated to studying how lifestyle changes can modify the onset of dementia. She is also working on identifying easily accessible and scalable predictive biomarkers to enhance early detection and improve patient outcomes.

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Olga aims to develop new approaches to improve dementia screening and advocate for health policies that promote prevention through community-based lifestyle interventions.

Motivation

The prevalence of dementia in Spain is rising alongside increased life expectancy. This presents a major challenge for the healthcare system with substantial economic and social consequences.

Education & Experience

Olga undertook her medical school training at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain, where she specialized in community and family medicine. She received her PhD, with international recognition, from the University of Barcelona.
