We need a lifelong approach to brain health—promoting health, reducing risks, early identification, management, and rehabilitation—while also investing in finding a cure for dementia.

Current Work

Madhur is Associate Professor in the Dept. of Psychiatry, B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Nepal where he works as clinician, academic faculty and researcher. He is also national trainer in mhGAP in Nepal and also works in Dementia.

Vision

Madhur believes we need to adopt lifelong approach to brain health- promoting brain health, reducing risk factors, early identification and management and rehabilitation to reduce the scale and impact of dementia along with investing to identify cure for dementia.

Strategy

Currently, Madhur is engaged in development of National Dementia Action Plan and situational analysis of dementia in Nepal. He is also running a memory and brain health clinic at his institute to provide specialized care to people with dementia and carers.

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Madhur's aim is to be a better clinician, researcher and advocate who could work for better integration of dementia care in primary health systems for quality, equitable and accessible services for people with dementia in Nepal.

Motivation

With the immense scarcity of specialized human resources for dementia services in Nepal, Madhur aims to integrate dementia services in primary health care settings in Nepal so that people with dementia get quality, equitable and accessible services timely.
