Ixim Morales, MS

Neuropsychiatrist

By understanding dementia and educating society, especially in rural Guatemala, we can prevent the disease and raise awareness about its risk factors within our communities.

Current Work

Ixim practices at a private clinic in Guatemala City and serves as a professor. He graduated with a specialty in neuropsychiatry from the National Mental Health Hospital of Guatemala and further honed his expertise at the National Institute of Neurology in Mexico City.

Vision

Understanding in depth the disease and all the risk factors that lead to it, at the same time, educating all members of society about the disease.

Strategy

Creating an extensive database on the psychopathology and main symptoms of Alzheimer's disease in the indigenous population of Guatemala.

Impact

To be able to raise awareness about the risk factors that lead to the disease, that the Guatemalan population understands them and can prevent them, creating information about our country based on the largest number of indigenous people from Guatemala.

Motivation

Many cases of dementia in rural areas of Guatemala, areas where medicine and science are difficult to implement and where by educating people the disease can be prevented.

Education & Experience

Physician and surgeon graduated from the San Carlos University of Guatemala, then entered the psychiatry residency at the National Mental Health Hospital where I was Chief Resident. He has a specialty in Neuropsychiatry from the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Mexico City and a master's degree in psychopharmacology.
