To reduce the scale and impact of dementia, Society and the world at large need to take time to understand what dementia is and incorporate the reality of its existence into everyday life.

Current Work

Neurologist at a Public General Hospital in Southern Zambia. Dementia advocate who raises awareness about dementia and provides support to dementia care through the Local Alzheimers Association (ADDIZ). Conducting Neurology research.

Vision

To reduce the scale and impact of dementia, Society and the world at large need to take time to understand what dementia is and incorporate the reality of its existence into everyday life.

Strategy

Interacting with patients and families affected with dementia to help them understand the condition and find feasible ways to improve their quality of life as well as helping develop locally (Zambia) generated data on various aspects of dementia.

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Faith aims to develop new ways of creating partnerships with people in various fields to help achieve the purpose of reducing the knowledge gap that exists regarding dementia in her country, Zambia.

Motivation

There is limited awareness and education regarding dementia in Zambia with families often viewing it as a normal part of aging, and few seek help despite experiencing significant strain from effects of dementia.

Education & Experience

Faith received her medical school training from the University of Zambia where she later received her Master of Medicine in Neurology. Currently she is based at Mazabuka General Hospital in Southern Zambia where she practices Neurology and continues to be involved in Neurology Research Work in Zambia.
