Behavioral Neurologist, Epileptologist
To answer the unknown questions about dementia, I believe we need to have passion for decoding the mystery of aging.
Didem is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Dokuz Eylül University. She is developing an electroencephalography model to monitor the electrical activity of the brain for diagnosis and differentiation of dementia, and investigating clinicopathological correlation.

Didem believes that we need a passion to work internationally to decode the mystery of aging. She hopes to develop knowledge in her home region about dementia by staying up to date and translating research evidence into effective policy and practice.
Didem is working on early diagnosis of dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) by further developing EEG models and defining new MRI volumetry features robusted by other biomarkers for discriminating dementia from healthy aging and mild cognitive impairment.
Didem believes that science itself is an art. During her fellowship, she developed knowledge in terms of incorporating research into clinical care. In UCSF's Memory and Aging Center multidisciplinary environment, she practiced a holistic approach and built great networks to promote international studies.
With a progressively aging population in Turkey, it becomes increasingly important to refine strategies to identify and manage dementia in older people.
Didem Öz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Dokuz Eylul University as a neurology specialist. She received her medical school training at Dokuz Eylul University and performed a neurology residency in the same university. During her residency, she started working in the center’s cognitive neurology clinic where she received initial training in behavioural neurology and dementia. She has worked on several research projects regarding Alzheimer's disease, Frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cerebrovascular disease and Epilepsy. During this time, she had extensive knowledge and background on the assessment of several neuropsychological tests with neuropsychologists, EEG and MRI training with radiology.
