Current Work

Currently working as Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, Director of Clinical Services, researcher, reviewer and mentor at the Tanzania Institute for Mental Health and Lecturer at the University of Dodoma and coordinate IGAP implementation in Tanzania

Vision

Strategy

Damas is conducting research to identify measures of early cognitive changes to inform future prevention interventions for dementia and also coordinating the implementation of Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Neurological disorders in Tanzania

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Damas aims to advance his abilities in brain health and train non-specialist health service providers to deliver cost effective interventions (including cognitive stimulation therapy) for dementia in Tanzania

Motivation

Through research, training of non-specialist health service providers and coordinating IGAP implementation, Damas intends to reduce inequality in brain health by increasing access to interventions for and raise awareness of dementia in Tanzania.
