Current Work
Alejandro is an Assistant Professor in Neural Engineering and Brain Health. He strives to contribute to the creation of applicable and scalable methods and solutions to support brain health throughout the lifespan. His research focuses on applied neural engineering supporting, aging, sensory dysfunction and cognition.

Vision
Leveling the understanding and action towards dementia and mental health globally. Particularly, in societies where these issues are dismissed as non-priorities. Hence, our efforts need to translate into actions tuned to the characteristics of the context in which we dwell.
Strategy
Alejandro's research activities aim to include contextual information to capture the nuances of individual lifestyles. This could allow for individualized approaches to brain health, starting from the general understanding of dementia and brain health that continues to grow in parallel.
Motivation
Alejandro's work on applied neural engineering for brain health aims to help better understand changes in brain health as individuals move through their life. This would facilitate early detection of cognition difficulties before they become acute and support a healthy brain ageing.
Education & Experience
Alejandro obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from ITESM in Monterrey, Mexico. He completed his Master's of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Groningen and Trinity College Dublin through the CEMACUBE programme funded by the European Union. He holds a PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, specialized in neural engineering, from Trinity College Dublin.

Recipient of the Collin Cherry Award for his contribution to research in the field of Speech in Noise.
Two-time winner of the Demant Innovation Challenge ‘Golden Cube’, an annual innovation competition among more than 13,000 employees of the Demant group.
