Study of verbs of movement as a possible early indicator of Parkinson's
With the aim of developing a test that reveals specific, subtle and early cognitive deficits in Parkinson's disease, researchers Adolfo García and Agustín Ibáñez, from the Institute for Cognitive and Translational Neuroscience (CONICET-INECO-FUNDACIÓN FAVALORO) evaluated two groups of patients with this degenerative disease. They studied a group of people with mild cognitive impairment and another of 24 people without cognitive impairment: they asked them to read texts that differed in the movement level of their characters and to answer a questionnaire for each. The hypothesis was that patients would manifest distinctive deficits in understanding movement, and that such involvement would be selective in patients who did not yet manifest cognitive impairment.
