Navigating Challenging Conversations: Explore Your Approach to Conflict & Tools for the Journey
Event Details
Sessions Offered on January 22 (below) and January 23

As changemakers, how do you respond to conflict in your daily life? What language and tools do you use? Does your reaction depend on where the conflict happens? Do you ever find yourself puzzled with how someone deals with a roadblock? Do you wish you had insights about their reactions and approaches to effectively express yourself in times of turmoil?
The GBHI Alumni Community is invited to attend a special leadership skills session online to kick off 2025: Navigating Challenging Conversations: Explore Your Approach to Conflict and Tools for the Journey presented by Kate Rankin, a GBHI faculty member and professor and neuropsychologist at UCSF, joined by Brian Lawlor, a GBHI faculty member and site director through 2024, GBHI governing board member, and professor of old age psychiatry at Trinity College Dublin.
During the session:
- Discover your natural approach to conflict and how to negotiate with people adopting other styles
- Learn from a vibrant role-play scenario by the facilitators to help you analyze elements that unfold in a tricky dialogue – you won’t want to miss this!
- Understand how to tap and enhance the leadership tools you carry with you
The session is presented through the GBHI Alumni Relations team as part of the GBHI Leadership Arc to develop and hone leadership skills that are crucial in the ongoing path of Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health. Perspectives of participants from around the globe will be sought during the session to feature real life examples from around the world.
There will be two times offered for this session to help make it accessible to participants in different time zones:
- Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM PT
- Thursday, January 23, 2025 9:00 - 10:00AM PT / 5:00 - 6:00 PM GMT
We hope you, the Atlantic Fellows Alumni from GBHI, can join us!
