The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) Annual Conference is a cornerstone of the fellowship experience and an important forum for GBHI community members worldwide. Each year, the conference brings together diverse voices to explore new perspectives, foster connections, and advance brain health globally.

In 2025, the conference will take place in Lima, Peru. The program of activities will include the GBHI Annual Conference on May 12–13 and 16 and the co-hosted Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) Satellite Symposium on May 14–15. This collaborative week will feature panel discussions, poster presentations, breakout sessions, and cultural performances by Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health, GBHI faculty and staff, and special guests.

Audience

Attendance at the conference is by invitation only. In addition to the 2024 cohort of Atlantic Fellows, alumni who completed pilot projects in 2024, GBHI faculty and staff will attend along with the public audience of the symposium. All other GBHI community members are welcome to attend at their own cost. Participating Atlantic Fellows are required to submit an abstract and prepare a poster presentation.

Goals

Through these gatherings, we aim to provide forums for discussions of the latest findings and challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, to explore emerging dementia research in the region, and to facilitate global networks. The AAIC Satellite Symposium is also a key opportunity to present brain health and dementia-related work to a wide and diverse audience.

  • Celebrate Partnerships and Regional Innovation: Highlight the power of collaboration among fellows, faculty, staff, and community partners while showcasing innovative brain health and dementia research from around the world.
  • Foster Leadership and Global Networks: Support the development of fellows’ leadership skills and strengthen global connections, fostering sustained collaboration and collective action to advance brain health equity.
  • Advocate and Inspire Change: Partner with the Alzheimer’s Association and other stakeholders to amplify awareness, drive policy change, and improve care while leveraging the arts and culture to inspire innovative approaches to brain health.
