Creative Brain Week 2025—Activating Kindness

As we enter our fourth year—following three successful Dublin festivals and six extraordinary satellite events across the globe—we invite you to join us in exploring the theme of “Activating Kindness” through art and brain science.

Featuring exhibitions and talks by scientists, artists, and innovators, Creative Brain Week takes place across the digital and physical campus of Trinity College Dublin from June 9-13, 2025:

  • Launch Evening: A welcome event bringing everyone up to date on the activity inspired by and developing from last year’s event.
  • Presentations: Thought-provoking talks exploring “Activating Kindness” through a multidisciplinary lens.
  • Creative Brain Week "Threads": Dynamic small-group sessions where experts and practitioners collaborate on real-world applications of neuroscience and creativity.

Program

A snapshot of the week's events—full program and speaker details will be available in early May.

Monday, June 9

We invite both online and in-person audiences to gather for a check-in.

  • What has our unique community achieved since last year? What have been the most significant developments?
  • Groups from Egypt, Botswana, India, Australia, Singapore, and Argentina will share updates on their projects, while special guests reveal what’s on the horizon for Creative Brain Week.
  • We’ll announce this year’s winners of the Pratchett Prize and revisit the story of An Old Song Half Forgotten.
  • We’ll also launch a creative exhibition in the gallery at Trinity's Naughton Institute, evolving throughout the week—with opportunities for your involvement.

Tuesday, June 10

A thought-provoking day of talks, online and in person. Experts from across disciplines and lived experiences share their reflections and insights on 'Activating Kindness,' exploring everything from the neuroscience of emotion to the practical application of generosity for the benefit of others.

Wednesday, June 11 to Friday, June 13

Creative Brain Week turns its focus to the future through “Threads”—cluster groups that take a deep dive into specialized areas.

  • These small groups, drawn from previous Creative Brain Week presentations and conversations, are challenged with creating roadmaps for the rapid development of workable, scalable solutions in uncertain times.
  • They’ll address a wide range of areas where neuroscience and creativity intersect for transformational impact, including education, care work, culture centers, music, embodied learning, conflict, and creativity.
  • Join a session in person or online to contribute your expertise, socialize with emerging ideas each evening in the gallery at the Naughton Institute, or return on Friday for feedback. These working groups will have very limited capacity, so booking is essential.

Come and help shape the evolution of Creative Brain Week as our meeting of minds explores how to "Activate Kindness."

About Creative Brain Week

Creativity is everyone’s asset, a critical skills for the coming century, which can be nurtured and enhanced. Now entering its fourth year Creative Brain Week has rapidly achieved local and international significance in its examination of how brain science and creativity collide.
