Vera Bakman, MSc
Vera Bakman brings to GBHI extensive experience working with international non-profit organizations focused on underserved populations. Her work is driven by a belief in basic human rights and the need to strive for equality of opportunity. She is a trilingual speaker of Russian, Spanish, and English. “Without basic human rights, like health care, equality of opportunity for all cannot be achieved.”
Before joining GBHI, Bakman’s work involved technical support for the budgetary and planning operations of the International Rescue Committee in New York City. Her other roles have included programmatic and financial reporting support for drug-resistant tuberculosis programs in Russia and Kazakhstan for Partners in Health, and fieldwork with local non-profits in Nicaragua and Haiti focused on community development and gender equality.
Bio: Vera Bakman holds a bachelor’s degree in economics management science from the University of California, San Diego, and a master’s of science degree in international development economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics/Universitat Pompeu.
